Default column lock recall

I have a question about column lock recall/fix.
I'm about to go see a car to buy and when I asked if the lock issue was dealt with he said the error code came up so he took it to the dealer to see what was wrong and they told him that it was already fixed by the previous owner, and that if he wanted to get rid of the code he would have to pay $700 for a new harness.
Does this sound right to anyone?

Thanks, Mark

I believe that what I say will be echoed by almost everyone that respones. The only way to solve this is to install the column lock bypass (clb) device. About $50.00. Stay away from the dealership.

Best $50 you will spend on the car.

Get the CLB from Corvettes of Houston. You can't go wrong. Around $50 bucks. Pretty easy install.
