Hey guys I just noticed a small coolant leak in the front of my car.
What ever it is, it is hitting the front spring and hitting the floor.
It looks to be dexcool.
I looked around the water pump and see no visible signs of a leak.
I am going to crawl under it later today and see if I can find the source.
It is leaking about a drip every 30-40 minutes.
Let me know if you guys ever had this happen.
Thanks a bunch

Water pump. I believe there is a weep hole at the 6 O'clock position that starts leaking when the bearing is going out. The worse the bearing the worse the leak.
Well I jacked the front end up and the dripping stopped.
I still see no sign of a leak.
I dried off the spring and pressured up the system.
I am going to let it sit for a few hours and see if I see anything.
It looked dry as a bone behind the pulleys.
This is driving me nuts.
You'll figure it out man. Just be patient with it. If it is the water pump, its just the water pump...no big deal. We all know the water pump swap is inevitable...
Well I boiled it down to it being atf fluid.
I checked the cooling lines coming out of the rad and see no leaks.
It appears to be accumilating at the front driver side of the oil pan.
I looked above it the best I can and see nothing.
The only thing I can think that has atf on it is the blackwing air filter.
I used atf fluid to oil it.
I am wondering if I went to heavy on the oil.
Does the throttle body have a seep hole if fluids or oil accumulate in it.
The throttle body is right in line with the leak.
I am going to drive it more and see if the leak stops or at least slows down.
Anyone have this happen with over oiling a air filter?
It is just a guess but see no other sources of atf that far forward in the car other than the cooling lines.Have a good one

When you find a leak under your car engine, dip a finger in the leak and taste it, just a wee taste will do. If it has a sweet taste, it's anti-freeze. No sweet taste, it's something else, not anti-freeze though.
I could tell you a story involving a dog and a puddle, but that's another story .... LOL!!!

You may want to throw your gasket question on the tech section as well as here.I,m kind of a newb to C5s and I'll be watching for the answer myself for future reference!
To check the weep hole, don't look at it... touch it with your finger and see if it feels wet. That is how the Dealership diagnosed mine to be the water pump.
Hey guys.
I have a small leak of antifreeze not ATF like I thought and I assume it is coming from one of the gaskets on my water pump.
It drips 1 to 2 drips per day on the spring below the car.
I am pretty sure it is not the pump cause everything else seems dry.
I am due for a flush and belt change anyway so I want to replace the gaskets on the water pump.
I know there are 2 gaskets and a O-ring.
Is the O-ring only used if I remove the thermostat housing from the water pump? (which I don't need to do)
I can't tell from the autozone or napa website.
They just say it is a related part.
Also when you install the new gaskets do you use any sealer or gasket tack for a better seal?
I want to do this right the first time.
Let me know and thanks ahead of time

If you are sure it is just the gaskets, I would first try checking the torque of the 6 water pump bolts (22 lb. ft.). You can get new gaskets from NAPA. DO NOT use any gasket sealant! Just make sure the surface of the engine and water pump is clean and smooth. If you do need a pump, Gene at GM Parts House can supply it. It comes with new gaskets and a new thermostat. The 0-ring you are refering to goes with the thermostat & housing. If things are as you say they are you should not need the o-ring.
