posted it in general but ill be more specific and post it in Z06 forums as well. I just came out of a 2001 M3 it was fairly quick at 310.7 rwhp and love the car but my dream car has always been a C5 Z06. I really would love to buy EB, red, yellow or silver no matter to me. What i really want to know is what mods are you guys running and what rwhp numbers you guys get with those mods. I want to purchase a 2003 Z06 and put the following mods Vararam Intake, TI free mod, delete cats, exhuast cut outs, Kooks headers and tune dont know anything about X or H pipes and what each does. But pretty much with those mods what numbers are you guys running any help or advice would be appreciated.
Exhaust mods should get you in the 370+ range according to the dyno etc.
What I don't understand is the huge increase in people dyno racing Z06s. This is a car not necessarily about peak horsepower (there are of course some people making crazy power). It is a purebred road course car and a peak dyno number is about 2% of that equation. Am I way off base in thinking this? It seems like every day I look at at least 1 new post about somebody who just got a Z or is thinking about getting one who is already concerned about dyno racer bolt on numbers. OK... rant over.

some people, such as I, dont really care about road race(there are no courses around except auto x). We're more for getting caught on the interstate by another car and race there, or going to the track. I auto x'd my car within the first 3 days i had it but thats all that gone down since then although i did wreck it 2 weeks after i had it too, lol
I think I need to re-word my comment. The point of what I was saying got lost in a bunch of other crap that I was rambling on about. My concern wasn't with people wanting more power. I ALWAYS want more power. My 02Z is my daily driver and just as you, it is used almost entirely on the street . My rant was more directed at the people who seem to want more power (on paper) when they haven't even used the stock 405. Coming from an 01 M3, the Corvette is going to feel like an absolute rocket in stock form. The OP doesn't even own a Z06 yet and is asking about bolt on exhaust gains... THAT is what I don't understand. Why worry about bolt-on mods and dyno numbers on a car that you don't even have? Is it just so you can tell your buddies that "I have XXX horsepower?"

I know my question came off as to only wanting power. Actually i was seriously considering buying 03-04 Cobra and modding the crap out of it. Ive driven a couple and i hated it, the clutch is too stiff, seating position to hight, shifter too far forward, braking and handling was pretty bad. Its just my opinion from driving it, i still have great respect for it but i want a car that does everything well and the Z06 is definitly that. Plus you need alot more power out of a cobra to keep up with a C5 Z06 although you can achieve kind of power.
I think with the mods im gonna do i hope i can get to 380+ rwhp, i dont think ill track it since the closest road course it pretty far away from my house but every once in a while taking a turn fast its nice to know you have a great handling and braking car as well. Thanks guys for the input.
'04, when totally stock was 365/358. had a tune & intake put on in winter, haven't had it checked for new additional power, however incremental it will be.
It put 356 rwhp to the Breathless Performance Mustang dyno 100% bone stock with 3000 miles on the odometer.
I now have LG pros, no cats, Halltech TRAP and a BPP/LG tune.
The car made 389/374 on the LG dynotech dyno after the header install.
My best words of advice regarding the performance of any C5 with a manual is to mod the driver.
I have seen 500rwhp cars that were .5 seconds off of my times at the drag strip. The driver is a crucial part of the package in either road racing OR drag racing.
Speaking of dyno racing the average person doesn't really understand that a 400 HP Z06 is faster than a 450 HP car that weighs several hundred pounds more. If people ask me about the power I explain this and let them know how light my car is. I'm with the OP though - I only plan to make from 380-400 RWHP after LT's, intake, ORX, and tune...I'll be more than happy enough with that kind of power in a light car.
^^^ with 380-400 rwhp you have plenty of power to beat most any car out there accept the obvious like C6 Z06 or others that are just as fast if not faster. I know no matter how much you mod you will always have someone thats faster but with the 380+ rwhp thats plenty coming from a light car that handles, brakes and looks great. I think if more people test drove Z06 Vettes in comparison to whatever else they want to buy in the same price range meaning used they would without a doubt pick a Z more often then not.
dyno numbers don't mean much. any c5 z06 is wicked fast. just look at the stock z06 "fast list" that's perma-posted on here. doesn't really matter from '01 - '04 models either, it's all about the driver.
find out for yourself how amazing these cars are by doing an all out 0-100-0 romp, on a safe empy road in the middle of nowhere. it'll blow your mind, and make your passenger just about lose their lunch (assuming you've got a passenger in there with you).
440rwhp is awesome, usually ive seen around 410 and H/C vettes with 440-460rwhp normally. So its pretty high, i think after i do headers, no cats, tune, xpipe, intake i will get a cam and re tune. But for the most part at 380 rwhp i should be fine affording the install on a cam is up there the cam and re-tune not much of an issue as far as cost.
