Default DIC/computer / wheel hub - sensor???

Greetings:

I recently purchased a 2004 white convertible from Sarasota, Florida. Since I live in beautiful British Columbia, buying this car over the internet, having it trucked across the states and having to go through all of the hoops and politics to get it across the border was at times ...... frustrating! However, it is now sitting in my garage, has insurance and plates on it and has even been out on a few short drives. It is a great looking car ........white with red leather interior and a white top!

The car works absolutely fine, however, there is one problem that I need help with.

Whenever the rear tires spin from a quick start or if I go in excess of 65
mph the DIC displays warning lights stating ...... "Service Automatic Handling System", ..... "Service ABS System" ...... "Service Action Control System"....

I took the car to the local GM dealer and I do not think that they are absolutely 100% sure as to what the problem is or how to fix it. After an elctronics test (and a $100. bill), the best they could come up with was that the wheel , hub and sensor should be replaced. They thought that the wheel bearing may be a little loose.

Since I am not a mechanic, I am at their mercy, however, if this is the problem ....... why doesn't the sensor give off the warning light when I am driving it normal or up to speeds of say 60mph. I mean, ..... if the bearing is loose - wouldn't it still be loose at lower speeds as well.

I am writing to the Corvette Forum to see if anyone else out there has encountered this same problem with any C-5s and what did they do about it. If what the head mechanic here says is true then I will get the new hub/bearing/ sensor installed (cost app. $650.) but I am not feeling really compforatable about their diagnosis and I don't think they are either.

"Looking for help" and I would really appreciate your input on this.

Thanking you in advance.

I have had the same sort of problem for the last couple of years....it happens at completely random times. I have replaced the hub, the pigtail and the ebcm with no luck. Now i just deal with it and reset it as i am driving. If you press and hold fuel and then press options 4 times while still holding fuel, it will allow you to see what codes are in. scroll through them and use the reset button to clear them.

As jrc27 stated, you need to check and post the codes here so we can see what's going on with the car.

Here's the link to how to check and clear the codes. It's very easy. Make sure you write them down and post all numbers and letters here so someone can help you out.

Id check with some other places as well rather than the dealer.
Seems like they are just guessing.

What size tires do you have front and rear? If you turn off traction control do you still get the warning above 65? As listed above you need to check the codes on the DIC and report them here.
