I have a 2003 Z06 with about 5000 miles....gauge worked fine until today after installing a Vararam intake and a shift eliminator for the transmission.
After the install I took for a drive and noticed that the temp was pinned at the max 250 +..stopped and checked vehicle and oil temp and was fine not overheated. I replaced the coolant temp sensor and played with the car a bit. Same issue.
If you cycle the ignition off and on you can get the gauge to read correctly for a period of time....start it or leave it sitting for awhile with the ignition on it will eventually pin itself again at the max. The actual temp readout in degrees reads XXXX when it is acting up otherwise it reads the correct temp.
Question.....could this be linked to what I did today.....disconnected battery to install the shift eliminator other than that and the install - not sure of the issue......Hopefully someone can help me diagnose the problem ??? Thanks.
I also performed a diagnostic check and found the following on the 10PCM which is the powertrain module - it shows a PO116C code which relates to the coolant temp sensors ? Not sure what this means though and the fix. Any help would be appreciated. Read about a reset - I have tried disconnecting and reconnecting the battery but not sure what else to do ? Codes resets just clears memory and will not solve the problem ?
