The Falken FK-452's are an excellent cost effective high performance tire option. In fact, since you are keeping the o.e. C5 wheels, AND, are NOT upgrading to a larger diameter and wider custom wheel set up, then do consider a "PLUS 0" tire sizing upgrade into the following tire sizes: For the Front Tires, install 255/40-17; and, for the Rear Tires, install 285/35-18. Patrick, these new "PLUS 0" tire sizes are available in the Falken FK-452's, and, are more than reasonably priced. And, most importantly, the new upgraded tire sizes recommended above, will fit beautifully on your o.e. C5 wheels. Lastly, I recommend that you take a look at Discount Tire's competitive pricing on the Falkens for a good deal.
It sounds like a good idea. Do you have some pictures with this size on a c5? I have lowered my car with stock shock , will this affect the " plus 0" tires? Thanks
Just put a set of Bridgestone Potenza RE 960 AS Pole Positions on. First set of non run flats I have ever had on the Vette. Rated very high by the Tire Rack.
I am using Bridgestone now, it is excellent!

Sure they won't be as good as a pure summer tire, but tire technology has improved so much lately that a good all season can offer probably 90% of the dry performance of a summer tire. So as long as you're not pushing your car to it's absolute limit, you'll never notice a loss in dry performance with a good ultra high performance all season tire like Goodyear's new F1. But you get the added security of a tire that can handle cold pavement (something a pure summer tire can't do very well)
Just put Vredesteins on my 01 ZO6. They are great. Don't know about your size, but the price to my installer was about half of what I was looking at for tires from Tire Rack. Check with TomZ Tires in Texas. He's a forum vendor.
I heard they are great vendors, will check price with them for the tires i will choose .! Thanks
Tire rack reviewed Bridgestone, Goodyear, Michelin and Pirelli in a great article entitled "Testing the Next Evolution of High Performance All-Season Tires" at http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tests/...ay.jsp?ttid=87
Whatever tire you go with, go with NON-runflat if performance is important to you. At the time, cost and treadwear were the most important when I bought mine so I went with Kumho Ecsta SPT, they are about half your budget from tirerack. Even for a low cost tire, the performance was far greater than the stock runflat.
Do some research on the Vredesteins, they are supposed to be top of the line imported tire for way less $$$ then other performance tires. I just got the oversized set up (295 rr/ 275 fr) for $700 shipped to my door from TomZ. Wasn't sure I liked tread design on website but they do look great on the car. Much quieter than the Goodyear F1's...
