Default Trouble

Alright, well maybe someone can help me out. This is what happened to me here about 30-45minutes ago. I was driving and then I went from full rpm'd 4th gear and i think i hit 3rd gear instead of 5th =( I think the problem is grave. My engine did turn off as I veered off to the service road and then I stopped. I cranked the engine and it seemed to be fine except with a much much higher lopping than usual. I proceeding to go to my destination and now I am back safely home. The check engine light is of course blinking. The car still pulls from 3 to 6K rpms flawlessly. I recently (5k miles ago) had a Z-Grip installed. It definitely sounds like an engine problem. I have chrome moly 7.4 pushrods, and everything else is stock on my 00. If anyone has any possibilities of what could be the problem i'd appreciate the insight. As of now I am evaluating it as a valve problem. The car like said is a stock 00 with just at 90K. =( I'm sorry for my driving skills, I am only trying to get better

Cheers,

Your explanation is kinda vague as to what the car is doing.

Pull the codes and see if she'll talk to you

Might have bent some pushrods if it over-revved to much...

Is it possible to float the valves on these engines? Just a suggestion. hopefully not the case, but an idea as to what it could be.

I agree. That could do even MORE damage. A valve or pushrod could be bent. Do not run it hard until you or someone looks at it!!

Take your pushrods out and roll them on a flat surface. You will see if any are bent. If none are, do a compression test. You could have collapsed a lifter, weakened or broken a valve spring or bent a valve. This usually causes some sort of valvetrain damage. I would expect you to hear ticking though. Replace your spark plugs and inspect the old ones.
