My passenger side mirror has come loose, and I have done some research. It is looking like I will have to take the entire door apart to fix this one myself. Can someone please tell me I'm wrong and that there is a much easier/cleaner fix for this problem? Or, does anyone know what it might cost to have the stealership or trustworthy body shop do it? Thanks in advance!
What's probably happened is your retaining spring has popped, a common problem with our cars. You can either put a big gob of glue on it which is usually a temporary fix, buy a new mirror, which is a rather expensive fix because they cost $200+ and you will have to have it painted, or you can remove the mirror and send it to this man who will fix it for $75 with a lifetime guarantee. http://capitalcitycorvette.homestead...s/clubnews.htm Click on C5 Mirror Repair.
I had him fix my passenger mirror and am going to send him my drivers mirror soon. I wish I had known about him a few months ago, it would have saved me time and $...............Good Luck.

I bought a new mirror and had it painted when I had some bodywork done. I used JB Weld on the old mirror and it held up great until the new mirror was on.

Does this mean you JB welded the clip on the stem, or can you use JB Weld on plastic?
