I started this topic on another thread that I can’t find with a search. I can’t find it so I'm asking for input on this new one for a different reason. I had my C5 installed with stock C6 tires and wheels. I had 1" spacers to match the rear tires to exactly match the edge of the fender. It worked out perfectly and I got what I wanted. Now I notice that the gap between the top edge of the front tires and the edge of the top of the front edge of the fender is about 1" wider than the back. I had the car lowered on the stock C5 tires and wheels with my old wagon wheels. The gap on my wagons between the fender and tires was less than the front than the back, to create a nice stance. Now with the new C6 tires and wheels it is 1-1/14” wider on the front between the top of the front tires measured from the floor than the rear, creating exactly the opposite of what we go for when lowering. I just hate that large gap and now it is worse. I will need to lower the front to at least match the gap between the front and the back to get rid of that 4 wheeler look. I had a 4 wheel alignment before the switch from the original tires and wheels were installed, but didn't notice the front 4 wheeler look I have now. I'm 3" from the floor to the front spoiler, so it will be about 2” after lowering the front again. I really don’t care about damaging the 3 front spoilers. I'm going to get the front rainforest metal parts to keep them from getting ripped off, considering that if they don’t work the replacement cost of the spoilers are relatively low in cost. Lowering the front will give me about 2" from the floor.
So I guess the question is, will I need to have the car realigned after the 1" drop in the front?
Any answers would be helpful. Thanks in advance for input.
What do you think guys? We are so into these little things that nobody would notice if they were not Corvette whack ***** like us. I mean, I go around with a level and a tape measure to make a 1" change. I'm not a guy that keeps the car for a couple of less years, really enthusiastic and gets tired of it for a family Truckster. I keep mine like new, and when I drive it, I drive it hard like it was built for. It looks like new and I'm a maniac about this stuff. I have had mine since 2002 and it will be gone after prying it from my cold dead hands.
