It's spring and it's time for a little more power. I am planing on headers with 1 3/4" primaries, off road x pipe with no cats.
My questions are:
1) do I need to turn off the rear O2 sensors to keep the check engine light from coming on?
2) do I even need the rear O2 sensors at all?
3) I've heard of some people using the rear sensors in the headers. What is the purpose of that, and are they plugging those sensors into the wiring for the front sensors?
4) Last, I've found a dyno shop about 100 miles away that a few people say is a good shop. Is there much chance for any benefit from tuning on the dyno compared to doing a mail order tune?
Other engine mods include thermostat, vararam intake, coolant bypass, and polished throttle body.
You will not need rear 02's with no cats but you will need a tune or simms to turn off the light. I would reccomend a dyno tune to maximize the headers and intake.
Dyno tune sounds like it would be more tailored to my car and has possibilities to pull more horsepower so I'll go ahead and plan on that. It is significantly more expensive though.
