I had the dreaded "column lock" while on vacation (earlier post). Fortunately I was able to get it unlocked. I have not bought a CLB for the car because I thought I read here on the "Forum" that it doesn't work on my year vette ('98 with manual transmission). Is this true or will a CLB work on my year vette??

Hey man, If you call and find out for sure ,can you please post it here ? Just bought a 98 with MN6 and really need to know also. Mine has had a recall performed but I'm not sure which one. It seems like none of them work
The first thing I installed in my 99 was a column lock by pass after hearing about all the problems people were having with the dealers fix and yes they are for 97-04 vettes and do work on 6 speeds.
CLB has absolutely nothing to do with what transmission you have.
Some people with earlier model year C5s seemed to have some problems with the CLB due to some differences in BCM timing or related difference that caused intermittent issues, but this was mostly anecdotal.
The issue with the transmission is whether GM would fully disable the CL - they would on A4 since there was still a shift interlock function by not on M6 because there is no other "safety" feature that immobilizes the car and hence would not comply with the letter of DOT requirements. Nonetheless the CLB works the same on either car.
You need to be careful on whether GM performed any recall procedures on the car since at least one of those procedures modified the wiring at the BCM which is not compatible with the CLB. Read the sticky for the details.
