When I owned my 01 Z06, I would trade back and forth between it and this: 1986 Monte Carlo SS
Then, due to the pending adoption that my wife and I are finishing now, I traded in the Z06 for this: 2007 Dodge Charger Daytona R/T (#981 of 1400)
and bought a 1986 Corvette, so I still could drive a Vette from time to time:
Good idea! Just curious - I've never driven a C4, but I've heard they're quite a different beast from the C5 - less cushy comfort and a harsh, stiff and racey ride. I personally do not care for comfort as I'm still young, and would not mind daily driving a lotus elise.
So, yeah, what are your impressions on going to an '86 from a C5 Z06?
I sold my C4 at the beginning of the year. It is a totally different animal compared to the Z06. It had its squeal and rattles, and it was loud due to the exhaust, but it sure was fun to drive. No active handling or traction control. It was all driver.
HA HA I see you Ford Probe, and raise you 1 1987 honda Civic 4 door Wagon with 209,000 (and it is sh*t brown)
I'll see both of your beaters, and raise you my 231,000 mile, 1995 Toyota Corolla 1.6L 5speed w/ 105 hp and a top speed of 111 mph
And I've still got this (rarely drive it these days) left over from 1992. She's done 14.7@95 in the 1/4, and tops out around 145. That was hauling the mail for a family 4 door back in the early 90's She gets all 3480 lbs around Road Atlanta in 1:46 on race rubber.

2000 Acura Integra LS 5-speed. 30mpg avg. and takes 87 octane. Z06 still gets driven to work every day it doesn't rain or snow. This is actually a fun little car.

I am on my 3rd Corvette. My first was a 93 C4, then the Z06 and now the 86 C4. The C5 is more comfortable on long drives and the power of the Z06 is just awesome...a civilized beast. Since my 86 is going to be more for drag racing and the occasional cruise, I am not in the need of comfort features (although, I will retain AC, it is hot in South Florida). You also sit into a C4 versus sitting in a C5. Until you have sat in a C4, you may not know what I am referring to. It is all driver on the early C4s, no traction control, no active handling, etc. I do have ABS, but that is it. Once the build of my C4 is done, it will be able to eat Z06's up (factory or slightly modded ones). The money that I am going to put into my C4 will end up where I could have bought a high mile Z06, but the C4 will be more fun at the strip I race at. Most of my racing buddies have C5's, C6's, and lots of Z06's, but only a few race C4's or earlier. My C4 is the oldest C4 in the group and I can't wait to chase down the slower C5's, C6's and Z06's when my car is done! If you see a C4 for sale near by, I would recommend going and taking it for a test drive. They are a lot of fun!
drivinhard, I will raise your corolla with my 83 toyota supra with....360,000 miles with original motor in it it is really ratty, but get 23 mpg average and I can park anywhere I want Other dailey driver is wifes 97 camry, my 93 chey silverado (parked currently).
I save the EB 03 Z for weekends and long trips.

aww dayum! I was about to go "all in", but you spooked me when u called it first. That's crazy mileage. I've got an 87 honda accord sedan with 221,00 miles. no a/c, valve cover leaks oil onto manifold and smokes, and it's chameleon colored (turd brown with hints of white paint fade)
Well...so much for keeping and racing my 86. I just picked this Vette up over the weekend. 2008 Coupe, Jetstream Blue, two tone titanium interior, LS3 motor, 6 speed automatic, Z51, every option available and then some on it:
This is my new daily driver. Gets great gas mileage, too!! And, it is a lot faster than my 01 Z06. I can't wait to see what it will do against a couple of friends that still have all factory 02-04 Z06's.
From: Wylie TX --> Less is More, except under the hood !
06 GTI. 2.0 4cyl, 200HP, 210Tq.
I'm getting 30 mpg in the city back and forth to work. I'm not sure what I get on the HW cause I just don't go too far.
