I was just over at autoblog.com looking at the spy photos of the upcoming cars and still our C5 will hold its own with its style. When I look at the C6 I "hate" the headlights. The C7 needs a C5 front end. Maybe make the headlight "doors" retractable while headlights remain fixed. I don't care if they are speed brakes. Retractable headlight doors would require some real engineering. Let the comments begin.
Flip-up headlights are sooo '1980s'.
Retractable headlamps are cumbersome, heavy, and unnecessary. Not to mention useless when they malfunction (a simple single failure within the C5 headlight-switch/multifunction-wand will still turn the lights on, but not allow the doors to raise up).
I have always liked the C6's headlight arrangement, but I do wish they would do something a little more creative/exciting (yet still functional) with the 'grille' opening.
C5 noses are better suited for those of us required to wear a front license plate.
+1. They did such a great job on the rest of the car... I don't know why they had to make a boring, "cute" front end. Well, that, and the side mirrors don't match the car. I have no idea why they used C5 mirrors on the C6.
The side, rear 3/4, and rear of the C6 are just awesome.
I agree, the rest of the C6 looks great but that front end just kills it for me. I like retractible headlights, and with newer technology I know GM can come up with more reliable ones, not that the C5s are bad to begin with. And with 420+hp stock, I really doubt pop-up headlights will affect performance that much if at all.
