Got a call from Jamie -My car dealer- today saying I should come on in, he had something he thought I should see.
Turns out he'd found a Corvette he thought I might be interested in; a 2003 Convertable, Medium Spiral Grey with 23,000 miles. This was a dealers car and Jamie assured me that at $33,000.00 I would be getting one heck of a good deal on a car such as this from a "dealership" as I would find private -on the account of the dealership backing the car with additional warranty-.
Well, I definatly trust Jamie as I've known him since we were about 10 years old -we grew up together/went to school together and were pretty good friends our whole lives- and he has always treated my family right.
What ya'll think???

Dealer's car or not, they are in business for one reason, to make $money$.
Carefully check out Edmunds.com or Kbb.com before you 'jump' on this deal.
Your friend didn't set the price, his boss did. Trust me, they aren't going to give you a gift because your friend works there. Likely the only benefit you may have got is being notified of its availability first.
I followed this link and the value listed there was exactly on par with what my dealer wants; $33,000.00
So, does this mean I AM getting a good deal?
I mean, 5 years ago this same car sold for a touch over $55,000.00

PRICE::: WAY TOO HIGH!!!!!! The market is VERY soft!! A few thousand more and you could get a new 08 coup!! Got a 2000 FRC with 55K for $18,600 point of reference!!

Is the money important to you? Will you skip some meals to raise the dough?
If the car is the one you want, why would you let a thousand or so stand in the way of driving it?
If you keep the car 5 years, that might only be 250 dollars a year extra just to have a car you like, that fits your needs and desires. Money shouldn't always be the bottom line, let enjoyment share the drive toward your decision. The 33K sounds high to some, but to others it's a very reasonable price to pay for a pristine edition of a very sought after vehicle.
Seems right around average looking at prices floating around in the for sale section for 2002-2004's. It's probably a deal from a dealer but certainly not the absolute best you will find. I'd still try to get it for 30 thou and maybe meet them in the middle. If it's a nice condition car and you really like it then go for it. It sure is a desirable color and miles.
I am not an expert on Vert prices, but 33K seems high to me.
I paid $32K last November for an 04 vert with 24K miles from CarMax. CarMax has a good website to check out prices (carmax.com). they have an 04 vert with 18K miles listed now for $33K. I'll bet the dealer would be happy to take $30K for it and if you want it I'd start out offering about $28K as it is a soft market now. JMO
Never offer a dealer what they are asking, no matter what they say they have some room in the asking price. But if it's the car you want start the offer low and work towards the middle, stand you ground at some point and they should come to terms. Hard negotiating usually will get a deal made.
If they don't and you still want it don't leave without a deal but you should be able to save a couple thousand IMO. Check the options to see you are getting good ones and not just a plane jane at that price.
I agree with all the above.
The market is soft right now, so the price seems a little high.
Check Kelly Blue Book, Edmunds and NADA sites for pricing.
Good luck.
its your money, that being said, i think your 5-6k high over value...want to see...call another corvette dealer tell them you have the exact same car in perfect condition..your moving out of state and need to sell today. ask them what they will give you.... listen to what they say 24-25k...
After following the link to KBB, click the private party tab for a more realistic value.
I don't even find KBB completely accurate. Although it's pricing is right on for my coupe with 65k miles on it... it says that the same coupe with only 100 miles on it is worth only $180 more.

Way over value, you can get a 04 Z06/Z16 for around 33-35k. A little more gets you a slightly used C6. I'd pass.
The 33k has got to be a starting price for the dealer. I'm sure you can save some $$ by doing your homework and being prepared to negotiate with them. The key is, they EXPECT to have to reduce their price to a buyer through negotiations during the sale. GO FOR IT if it's the car you want!

I have a 2002 vert that I purchased with 30K miles in September 2005. I paid $33,500 for it. There is always a lower price out there. I would suggest that you offer lower. Do keep in mind though that through the dealer you will get a 100K powertrain warranty in the purchase. Some will say that you could buy the same car from a private seller for much less and then buy a 3rd party warranty and still come in lower than the dealer's price. Do what satisfies you. Good luck.
