hey all.. i have a stock 12 disc cd changer thats in the trunk. Jsut recently it started to sound fuzzy/grainy... im using cd's that i burned in there. any ideas on hwo to fix this? thanks.
"Just curious -Are the CD's originals or copies?. I have an 02 with the stock Bose radio with cassette and 12 disc changer in the back. Mine is fussy about the CD's it plays. Ones I have copied myself often have a static, fuzzy or crackling sound on and off. The original discs usually don't do this, but I don't like to use my original CD's in the car. I have experimented with different CD blanks and found some that work better than others. I Also started duplicating my CD's at the slowest speed possible and that helped as well. Have you tried using a head cleaner disc?"
I had the same problem when I had my 98 vert. I saw a thead from Bill Curly that showed where the grounds were and two of them are in the vicinity of the door jam hinges. When I would wash my car I would be very careful to try and not let water enter that area the best I could and sure enough, no more static.
My bet is one of your grounds is getting wet. Hope this helps
Having the same problem with the burn in cd's. Crystal clear with my store bought.
Try different types of blank media. They use different dyes and coatings. My experience is that black discs like Memorex don't work well. Currently I'm using Phillips or HP and they work better. I also found that using the lowest burn speed - 4X on my software gives better results. Post up if you have found a good brand of blank media.
