Default Old problem, new discusion

The old cluch fluid and heat issue. Several questions here. Has anyone seen the Napa 5.1 non silicone fluid. Wet boiling point is just over 340. Has anyone tried this? Also Valvoline has a sythetic that is rated at a 500 wet boiling point. Has anyone used this? What kind of results did you get?

Another observation:
Last time I got race gas I put 10 gallons of 104 in, then topped off the tank with super unleaded 93. In traffic the hot engine temp condition seems to come on quicker. (i live in Houston and its already in the 90s durring the day.uuuggghhhhg) Durring this time my cluch problems seemed worse. Could my cats be getting hot to the point that it is causing more trouble with heat in the line and slave?
I have run all of that gas out and will fill up with 93 pump gas only this round. I am wondering about what brake fluid to use in the clutch system.

I have been through his entire web site
http://www.rangeracceleration.com/index.html
It does not address the different fluid questions.

if its the same DOT 5.1 stuff I'm thinking of they you can't run that in a street car, its for race cars only who change their fluid everyday they race. reason being is that it (the DOT 5.1 stuff) doesn't absorb mositure like regular brake fluid does. so you need to change it all the time otherwise your pedal will be horrible.

now, about the valvoline full syn. I used to use that stuff and had good results with it, same with the Castrol LMA, but recently stepped it up to the Motul RBF 600 and its worlds above both the valvoline & Castrol in terms of dry boiling point.

As far as the sticking clutch I don't know what to tell ya. I have a speed bleeder installed, all my hydraulic lines wrapped in heat resistant materials, and flush my fluid regularly so I've also never had my pedal stick to the floor like I read a lot of members do. I also haven't beat on the car @ a road course yet but doing a couple autox's so far hasn't given me a problem.

First off, if you are going to change frequently (I recommend) you need to pay attention to the DRY boiling point. The fluid will not be in the system long enough so that the WET boiling point (absorbs water) matters.

So find a dot 3/4 with dry bp at least 500F. I use Prestone dot 4 (Walmart/cheap/500f dry) 26k miles, run hard, never had pedal stick down.

Ranger has used this one also.

I have also used the NEW gm spec fluid but it's expensive & small bottle.

If money is no object go with the uber expensive ones. Your choice.
