i was wondering how hard it is to spray paint all the engine bay parts like valve covers fan shroud, etc. I want to spray paint all of those pieces silver to match my car.
Very easy to do. A lot of members here have done it with great success. Just make sure to get all the parts very clean, add a good primer coat, go light on the paint, use multiple coats and most important take your time! You will love the project! I got an email from another member with all the details on how to make this project a success PM with your email and I will forward it to you!
I am in the process of going about this as well. Only difference is I planned on getting Light Pewter paint and painting them with a gun. Unless someone has a way to colormatch out of a rattle can or something along these lines.. Im defintely all ears on that one.

I did all my parts in light pewter met. I bought the duplicolor touch up paint and used these air propelled cans that you can add paint to. You can buy the cans at oriely, autozone and ace hardware. They worked great for me and got a good match.

For a good spray can pewter paint, try Dupli-Color. # T 408 for Pewter. Looks & lays on real good. Then clearcoat it.

That sounds even better than getting out the guns and compressor. Did you just go and get the paint itself from the dealership? I assume if so that they sell the paint in larger quantities than just the little tiny ones? Finally, did you have to think it or clear it or anything along those lines? Thanks and sorry for the bombardment of questions.

Think this would match as good or better than the touch up paint method? Again.. apparently I am full of questions, thanks for all the great options guys and hopefully I am not stealing the thread!!!
Can I make a huge recommendation.....I am not sure why more people haven't caught on....but our LS1/LS6 intakes look excellent painted high gloss black! Just take and sand down the little circles that are on the runners first, then autoprep really well, mask off, and spray a few coats....your results will....well have a look:

I bought a few of the touch ups for the under hood. I bought larger amounts from midamerica. I also invested in an airbrush compressor and have been using it. But for small jobs the revel sprayer works great. I did clear them and used adhesion promoter. I like the duplicolor becuae it has the metallic that nearly matches my ext.

Yours looks great. I am working on buying an intake manifold (chrome) if I wasnt I would def do that.
When you spray silver make sure all parts are the same temp. as the place you are spraying them. Let them dry out of the sunlight. Silver flakes settle as the paint drys. I demonstrated this to a friend - filled my spray gun and sprayed warm parts, cool parts, dried in sun, dried out of sun. I got 4 different shades of silver. Good luck.
Big thanks to JDs00PewterCoupe for supplying me with months and months worth of back logged conversations from the forum here regarding this. Thanks to those conversations and the advice here I have determined that I am ready to pull the plastic stuff off the car and get busy screwing stuff up... err painting stuff up!!!
It will be a bit before I get around to this as the next "for looks" DIY project is the hood liner. I will definitely post pics and the like of every step along the way on my website and give a link here when done.
