I have used Leland West to insure my ZR-1 for about 6 years. I have no complaints, but I have never had to file a claim. They have restrictions on how the car is used and stored. You need to have a clean driving record and proof that you own other cars for daily transportation.

They are actually insurance brokers. The policy is written by a different insurance company, in my case it is American Modern Home Insurance.

Same here I've had them for a couple of months. Haven't had a claim (knock on wood). I have a '99 c5 my premium is $205 per year...my regular policy was $900in per year.

Default Insurance

Over the past 45 years (I'm near 80), I have gone through the quote process many times looking for Corvette insurance. LelandWest has insured my vettes for the past 12 years.

Take a few minutes to request a quote. You will be glad you did:

I'm glad I did a search. I just received a card from these guys in the mail. I was considering the Corvette Museum insurance as well, however read they have some serious restrictions on where you can park the car, errands, etc.

I have a 2004 garage queen, cosmetically modified with bolt on performance mods. It is a weekend pleasure car that I mostly drive for Corvette club events and other weekend trips.

I currently have all three of my vehicles with Geico. My daughter has her learner's permit and I plan to let her be the primary driver of my current daily driver in the next few months once she gets her license and I retire that car and purchase a new daily driver business sedan. I want to make sure I work out the best deal and I would like to keep the Corvette off of the other policy plan.

We use the same carrier as LelandWest, so we have the same restriction as they do or visa versa. What are your concerns and I will see if I can help eliminate any misinformation.

Thanks!!

Adam,

There was a thread earlier on pre-determined value insurance options and it was mentioned that the NCM insurance had restrictions on errands or parking in shopping centers, malls and even picking up your kids at school. Not sure if these are true or not.

I understand restrictions such as garaged, mileage, non-commute/daily driver, etc., however even though I have a low-mileage, garage kept, modified hobby car, I don't want to worry if my wife calls and asks me to pick up something at the grocery store on the way home from a car show.

Picking items up on the way back from a car show is fine, but leaving your house with the intent to go to the grocery store is not.

You will find that the restrictions are all about the same across the board for all insurance carriers, it is not agency specific. We feel like our carrier has fewer restrictions than most and even offer a 9-5 work endorsement that allows usage up to 2 times per week.

Let me know if you have anymore questions.

Thanks!!

So if you were comming back from a car show and stopped at the store for a few items before returning home and a accident did happen, how do you prove you was at the car show?
Thanks

It is generally pretty easy to prove. Our claims reps are collector car specialists. They know what is up in the marketplace with car shows, cruise ins, etc.

That's why it's important to read the fine print. I understand mileage restrictions, garage conditions, daily driver restrictions, etc., however the fact that I can't drive my Corvette to a store to pick up bread (and park it far away from the other cars like I always do) in fear that if someone damages my car, it is not covered doesn't sit well.

Highway miles are different than stop and go traffic miles and my gated work garage is probably safer than a public suermarket. All of these are restrictions that need to be discussed before signing a policy.

We agree! This type of policy is not for everyone, but for those who it fits allows them to save money and get better coverage.

We are very upfront, that is why we are one of the few agencies that participates on a forum.

Grundy has none of these ridiculous restrictions.

Grundy does have similiar restrictions , where they differ is the word and use called pleasure use and many ways of driving your car can fall under pleasure use.

OK, so who has the best agree-on value policy on a mint condition, garage kept, low mileage pleasure driver with cosmetic and performance bolt-on mods? I will happily agree to an overall mileage restriction because it is a pleasure vehicle driven mostly on weekends, however I don't want a restriction that does not allow me to pick up my dry-cleaning on the way out to a dinner cruise or pleasure drive.

I mean seriously, as passionate Corvette owners, if we go this far in protecting our cars and taking care of them, don't these companies think we have the ability and common sense to choose when & where we park our cars? Heck, I've seen accidents at car shows.

Wrong. As long as you have another vehicle stated as your daily driver, I can drive my vette anytime and anywhere I desire. I have picked up groceries a few times in it, too. There are no mileage restrictions, either. Please tell me about the similiar restrictions that they have. I don't see anything like that in my policy.

I had my 64 insured with Grundy for several years and was happy until I bought my 99 FRC and tried to insure it with them. I was told that my 2002 Tahoe and my 86 GMC Pickup were to old and they would not insure the 99! They said that if one of the others broke down I would drive the 99 to work, thus it would not be insured.
I called up Adam and made the switch and have not looked back. Anytime that I have had a question for Adam it has been answered quickly and professionally and If he is not able to answer the phone when you place a call he will call you back! This professionalism sold me on the Museum insurance and I don't feel restricted.

We have pleasure use built into the policy as well. All collector car insurance companies agree that Walmart is not a pleasure trip...I would agree with that as there is nothing pleasurable there!

I know my competitors really well, and what they have to offer. I promise you that you can not drive your car "anywhere". All of our restrictions are basically the same.
