Default Canadian Bumper mod

I am sure that you have been asked this before but I purchased a 2003 Zo6 and I have to do a bumper mod I went to a corvette dealer and they said that they dont do it and I have to go to a body shop to do it I guess my question is can I do it myself and if not how much does it cost approx and any other info that you can impart to help me that would be great.

are you referring to the euro bumpers with the hideous rear fog lights?

No, Canadian cars have a different impact bumper requirement. More foam in the rear, IIRC. Who knows, crazy canucks.

Good luck.

Is it a goalie net in the front bumper?

try another Chevy dealer they will do it since it is money in there pocket.

What is the difference if you bring your vette into them after an accident and they have repair the foam.

It is about $800 from what I have heard. .

Is this a purely cosmetic mod or is there a functional reason?

The functional reason is that the US vettes only require 2.5 mph before damage while in Canada it is 5 mph.

I just brought a 2000 from Vegas, no bumper MOD required. Did I get lucky? They did try to charge me for the DRL's that were already functioning though.

It sounds like you may need more 'foam' within the bumper - something to make it a 5mph bumper.

If that's the case and you don't need to REPLACE (or repaint) the bumper, and, if you don't mind a little mechanical work, you can easily remove/replace the bumper! While not doing the back yet, I have done the front for some mods - it easy!

I do recommend using the manual though!....
