Front Tire Question
I need new front tires on my 99 A4 Vert. Currently, I have 245/45-17 mounted. Can I run 235/45-17 without any problems?
Is a thinner tire desireable on the front?

I expect they will fit your rims, but personally I wouldn't go that route just to save a few bucks. It certainly won't improve the car's handling or cornering ability. There may be more understeer with the smaller front tire. You didn't say whether they are runflats or whether they are the same brand tire as you have on the rear; mixing tire types is not a good idea. I just ditched the stock wheels on my coupe for Z06 rims with non runflats - 265/40 17 and 295/35 18 sizes. A huge improvement in ride, noise responsiveness and stick. I would stay stock or go wider not narrower.

I recently bought a pair of GOODYEAR EAGLE F1 GS-D3 295/35-18 for the rear of my car. The front original Runflats need replacing now. That is why I am looking at these tires.
