Amazing read. Thanks for taking the time to type that. Now, I know what I'm going to do later on in life when I have $15k (including airfare, etc.) to blow. How cool.

Eilig, I also drove a 360 Modena last year and I could not agree with you more on your post. What impressed me the most was the way the car handled on bumpy curves just rock solid and the faster I went the more firmly planted the car felt on the tollways!

Since you guys seemed to enjoy hearing about the adventure so much, I'll share on more story.

I was driving the 360 Modena on the Autobahn through Munich one Saturday night, and in the city, there's a speed limit of around 50-60 mph. So I'm just loafing along when this BMW 3 series gets all over my bumper. He hung there for a while, then made a pass. I could see it was a regular 3 series, but he had DINAN tags all over the place, and the exhaust was loud, and it had been lowered, so I was assuming some modifications of some sort.

Anyway, he clung to me through the city, until we got outside the city limits, where the speed limit ends. I came to know the "end of speed limit" signs on the Autobahn VERY well (white circular sign with black hash marks), and after traveling several miles with this BMW all over me, was in second gear, with the revs high, ready to nail it when I saw the sign.

The sign came, and I went hard. Redlined second, third, fourth gears, and climbing fifth hard. The Modena was running flat out. BWaaaaaAAHHH..... BWaaaaaaAAAAHHH..... passed him mid-way through third gear, and by the time I was climbing fifth, he was becoming pretty small in the mirrors.

After cruising a constant 150+ mph for 15 minutes or so, I got into some turns and slowed down a bit. Next thing you know, there he is again. He makes a high speed pass (probably 160+ mph) and when he passes, I notice his passenger has a video camera, and it's pointing right at me.

Never one to pass the opportunity for play, I of course pursue again. So long story short, we run from Munich all the way down to the Bodensee (Lake Constance) on the Austrian/Swiss border. Just before the border, when I'm again ahead of them, I pull off to get some of that awesome 98 octane gas. He follows me into the station, and we end up standing there for the next 30 minutes drinking Coca Cola, talking cars in my broken German. Before we departed, the guy gave me his information and asked me if I'd like a copy of the videotape. I told him of course, and offered to pay for a copy. He told me he'd send me a copy. I expect to have it within the next couple of weeks. Can't wait to see it!
