I'm 26 years old and I'm at a point in my life where I can afford a 00-02 corvette with no problems. I'm just wondering what kind of age groups we have here? How old was you when you bought your first corvette and any pics?
I was 21. I bought a 69 Vert with removable hard top and AM/Fm radio. These were the only options it had. No a/c. Crank up windows. She was red with red interior and a black vinyl top. That was in 1973. It cost me $4500 and nearly all my paychecks each month but I got her paid for. I'm on vert # 11 now.
I was 17 in my JR year of high school. A wrecked '74 L-82 coupe. Hit in the front end. My late father and I restored it. PITA to fix, don't think I'd do it again...
I was 20 years old. Bought a 97 C5. I'm 21 now. Not the most recent pic but it now has Toyo tires and B&B bullets. And no, mommy and daddy didn't pay for it.
Bought my first one in 1958. It was a 1957, white with red coves. Vettes were rare then and I often found business cards under my wiper blades with notes asking if I was interested in selling. Paid $2,700 for it and sold it 2 years later for $2,400, to one of the guys who left his card. Wonder what it would be worth now?
I was (am) 33, after I had my retirement contributions to 25% of our household income and was in my "permanent" house. Oh, and I paid cash, no car payment for me!
Oh boy, you probably expected a response from just the younger crowd here.
I post this only so you know most of the old farts here probably wanted or had a corvette when they were younger. If they had a vette, back when, they enjoyed it then and if they have one now they are probably enjoying it even more. And, the ones that are worth their salt love to talk to younger vette owners and enjoy the fact they are vette owners too. I'm sure there are many vette owner here that have Been there, done that.
You are never to young (or to old) to enjoy life, and that includes vettes.
1st Vette purchased 1963 for about $1900.
2nd Vette - almost 40 yrs later. A short hiatus for family etc.
3rd Vette - I will probably wear out before it does.
I was 22 and bought a 1974 - 454. It was in sad shape and unfortunately I didn't have the money to put it back together. Lost it to an ex-wife. Come of think of it, I've lost two vettes to ex-wifes.
I've had a vette of each generation with the exception of the current C6's. The first new one I've owned is my current baby, a MSG 04. I won't lose it to an ex-wife.
