I've already replaced the worn plastic gear with Rodney Dinkman's brass gear last year, so that isn't the problem. My headlights worked fine after that repair.
Three things are happening right now:
1) When down my headlight bucket cover is "floating" just a little low in some places. I think this is due to the fact I accidentally leaned on it one time when I was washing my car. I heard a snap, but I didn't think that much of it at the time.
2) About one out of every ten times I turn on the light the headlight either rises very slowly or just rises half-way
3) When driving with the headlights up I notice that the driver-side headlight bucket vibrates with bumps in the road while the passenger-side headlight bucket is perfectly still.
take off the cover, you will find white platic height adjustment pieces... I think you need a torx 15 to adjust them, just turn them counter clockwise to raise your cover.
Be patient you may have to test it 3 or 4 times before you get it right...
