The shift **** will work on a stock C5 shifter OR an aftermarket shifter, but WILL NOT work on the stock C6 shifter. The set screw is on the front, not the side like the C6, and is only designed to prevent further rotation once you tighten the ****'s threaded polyurethane insert on the shifter. Frankly, I cranked mine down as far as it possibly would go and it was TIGHT, so I think the set screw is probably overkill, but no reason not to use it.
