Ok, my 01 Vert has started to do something strange on Friday. The car is running fine, and strong <I did a little extra spirited driving on the way to work this morning to test it>, and it drives like it has been for the past 18 months that I have had it.
EXCEPT. I was at one of my bosses properties and one of his construction foremen was admiring the car, I went to do a little burn out, and it bogged down. If I put my foot on the break and the gas, it kinda boggs down like it going to cut out, almost like it I am hitting some sorta rev or stall limiter, but if I let go of the break and hit the gas, it has no problem performing like the car should perform.
Anyone have any idea or clue of what the heck is going on?
Check your knock sensor! Thats what it sounds like to me... perhaps some one else will chime in on another reason to cause the problem your having. Are you running Hi Test or Regular gasoline?

I run 92 - 93 Octane depending on where I stop for gas.
Just over 78,000 miles, the only things I have done to the car, is 160 t-stat, Vararam, and a tune...and as far as I know, everything else on teh car is stock.
Even when I was out for lunch, my A4 on a hard accereration chirped the tires between 1st & 2nd with the AC running, so it is still running strong as normal, well with the exception on the above mentioned problem.
I am wondering if you are somehow causing the ABS to kick in by pressing on the brake and the same time you are hitting the gas. That might result in the loss of power you are experiencing.
Dont know if its related Joe but I did notice everytime you got on it during the run this weekend there was alot of black smoke coming from your exhaust like it was running rich. Have you checked or changed your plugs lately?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but when you have it in COMP DRIVING MODE, doesn't the TC stay on? Comp mode only allows the car to drift back and forth in the rearend, it doesn't turn off the TC.
I know on my friends 00 vert, if you have it in COMP mode, you can't even bark the tires. Turn of the TC and you can light the rears up.
Let me know if this is right or wrong.

you have it backwards comp mode lets you spin the tires in a straight line and not get sideways.

Hmmmm, I thought I noticed that once, but was not sure. I will have to look into that. Thanks Roger.
