I have the BFG in a 315. I am going to buy the NItto's for the rear however. I like the BFG but on the street it's a waste of money I think especially since they wear out so fast. I mount them on my stock rims and use them at the track.
M/T's definitely hook the best of any DRs I've tried. I got into the 1.5x 60-ft range with 275/40-17s on my Mustang with a 6-speed. The 00 treadwear rating hurts if you drive them on the street much and DO NOT drive in the rain on them if there is any standing water because the car will want to swap ends at anything over 25 mph or so.
If you're putting them on stock rims I'd suggest the following:
305/35/18 Nitto 555R (least sticky of drag radials but last 10K miles)
295/35/18 BFG DR (hooks my car from a 1st gear roll, lasts 5K miles)
305/35/18 M/T (hooks better than any 18" tire, lasts maybe 2K miles)
A 305/18 Mickey Thompson is the best fitment and nothing sticks better than a MT.
People will recommend BFGs and Nittos but they probably haven't used MTs. HUGE difference in launchability.
With that said, Nittos are the most "streetable" and BFGs are in the middle. Depends on what you want them to do.
315s will fit on the wheel but will stick out slightly. I don't like that.
They do make 295s (stock width) IIRC.
Personally, 305 MTs are the ticket for an 18in. If you're looking for turnability then maybe Nitto 555RIIs.
Anyone try the new M&H Drag radials yet ???? They hook unreal on the street, even with 30 psi. Here is 2 vids on an old closed air strip from 26 mph, but they are on the same type asphalt. The first you will notice the motor hits the rev-limiter 2-3 times then hooks and goes. On the second, a little spin, hook and goes. This is with 30 psi and a light as* rear end Silverado. This is a 12.8 truck - NA (Zo6 heads, 220 reverse split cam, headers and 410 gear)..so it isn't too far out for comparison with a regular vette. I haven't tried them at the track yet...but I love them for the street so far.
Uh, my street tires do a little spin and then hook in my 10 second Vette with 30 psi. A rolling punch with drag radials should not spin at all.
Uh, And what gear and tires are you running with a ten second car to not get much spin from a roll ?? I get spin now from a third gear roll and I am not a ten second car. Mine would even spin bad before my gear install in first and second with just 430 rwhp, 342 gear and drag radials. Fill me in on your tires, I think I will go buy them. Sounds like they will put my Nitto's to shame.

Spins a little on a 2nd gear roll, doesn't spin AT ALL in 3rd. Currently NA 510/490 at the wheels. Using Toyo T1Rs on the street.
Spray on the track a 200-300 (looking for 750/850 wheels) planning on running 9s on MT drag radials (275/17). Running 3.42 gears right now. Going to go to 373 when rear blows.
Also have Pfadts coilovers set really soft.
Newsflash: Nittos suck. Always have. Even when they first came out and were ricer tires. Still are, IMO. They just make our sizes now, lol.

Why did you choose the M/T Drag radials versus the bias ply? I know you are no supposed to mix & match but wouldn't they stick better?

Because I used bias plys for my previous passes and loved them except:
I ran them at 18psi to save my rearend. At 18psi they were slightly unsettled at high MPH but nothing to think twice about. I didn't want to lower them more due to them getting more out of shape so I chose radials, which I can lower to whatever is needed and not worry about mismatched set.
