So im getting new tips welded on tomorrow (dual oval in black chrome) but have a quick question. The exhaust on my car now does not have mufflers but does have baffles instead. I'm wanting to take the exhaust off and just have straight pipes to the tips but wanted to know if I'm going to loose back pressure/hp. Should I have the tips welded onto the exhaust thats on their now. Also does anyone know what exhaust this is, someone had told me that it was the slp loudmouth because it's the only exhaust where the tips are equally spaced. Exhaust is only loud when driving but quiet at idle and I want something deeper. Any help is appreciated
If you look at the Mid America Website, there is s picture of the SLP, it could be that, they say level 3 at idle, thru WOT... but to me your's looks REALLY evenly spaced. Not sure how straight pipes would affect anything..I'm sure someone will assist!!!
What do you have for the rest of your system?? If you pull the baffles you will lose back pressure, but if the rest of your system is stock the ECM should cover it. I have Corsa Touring on mine, and pulled them off(added a couple of turn downs) and took it to the strip and ran very close ETs to what I ran before, and this time it was about 15 or 20 degrees warmer.Had I been able to make a few more runs I might have bested my previous times, but this time when I cut a 13.14 they said I needed a helmet. That was only .06 slower than my best that I ran on a cool night on a tight track. Headers and high flows might make it harder for the ECM to adjust to straight pipes though!!Let us know how it goes,,,literally and figuratively!!
You have anymore pics of it? Loudmouth is usually loud all the time, not just at WOT. I use to have Loudmouth, I had it with the stock manifolds and H-pipe as well as with LG longtubes and X-pipe. As far as straight pipes all the way back, I do believe you will lose some back pressure but I dont know that for a fact. Im wanting to do the same thing eventually.
