I've always wondered if there was a way to add the red or dye the bottom part red.
There is plenty of room between the pieces to mask off the top part and dye the bottoms without taking them apart, and you'll never know the difference.
Does anyone have pictures where they have used dye to create a mod red interior (bottom of doors and glove box/under steering wheel)??
I'd like to have an idea of how the dye looks.
I did a Mod Firethorn Red in my '99 a few years back. I have some pics I can post, but not until I get back from my current trip in a couple days. They turned out great and no one ever knew I didn't replace the panels. I even used the rattle can dye, not a professional spray gun. And the grill pop right out for a better overall application process. Really no need to separate the panels unless you are doing a custom install like willfulone.
So the dye even works on the fabric grill? I'd love to see pics. I think I'm going to give this a try. Worst case is I wreck them and buy the mod red interior pieces like I was going to do anyway. Best case is it saves me $600.
Installed in the car - you can see the dyed panels are no different in color than the seats, which were not dyed.

Sorry I don't have any close-ups of the panels or the process I went through to dye them - those were lost in another old computer. It wasn't hard, that's for sure. If you have any doubts, find an old panel that's damaged and practice!
