Insurence Doubled
i didnt even wait for lights i just pulled over. he was a cool cop and since i didnt keep going he only gave me a "70" over ticket but no neg...Got that one differed...
Flash forward 2 weeks shy of a year.
i work loss prevention for Sears. i park the Vette out in the far lot so it wont get door dings and what not out in the north 40, and then bring it right up front after dark. well the last day of ice "was in April really odd for here" i do my same thing. then i notice the car wasnt in my normal spot and i missed it, so i actually was right outside the last parking spot. i go to move the car and drive around a tree in the middle of the lot and it caught some ice "I would Totally fess up to drifting to you guys" and the *** end kicks out. i went maybe 30 feet from where it lost control and Red and Blue right behind me. Its the same to over weight local PD that cant fit into a normal uniform "it looks like a big stretchy onezy". The first genius looks at my Toyo RA-1 and says "Those tires arent legal" i explain with out tone in my voice that they are in fact Track Tires but do say "D.O.T." on the side wall... at this point he informs me "Dont tell me how to do my F*cking Job". well for me this just flips the smart *** switch because i dont take crap well from people "That the 23 year old part that screwed me" After his great remark i tell him Just read the damn side wall. the back up cop has his super bright LED flashlight right in my eyes so i tell him "Grab your buddies light right there and read it your self" AND THERE IT WAS! Genius #2 chimes in "Well it was just negligent NOW its reckless". I didnt drop my head or what ever it was that he was shooting for i just told him i needed to get back to work and close the store. he fires off one last comment "What would your manager think?" i ignored it (talked to her later and she just laughed... awesome woman)
Guess what a week and a half away from the first ticket dropping NOPE now i got 2 tickets to pay for
So... month down the line, i explain the whole situation to the prossicutor and he says fine "$500 fine NEG2 instead of Reckless and you have to pay half the ticket upfront" i took the deal still pissed that i honestly didnt do anything wrong but officer jackass's report says other wise.
Since then i have not driven the Vette, i put storage on it and used the money i have been saving on insurance and gas for mods.
OK up to this morning, i open a letter from my insurance company. my insurance was $98 a month for my 00 Wrangler and storage on the vette. now its $174 a month just to drive my POS 4 banger Wrangler!

and NO disrespect to any Officers on this forum, i actually want to work law enforcement. its just these two bags of sun shine are a stain on this town.
So ever since then ive had an extremely deep hatred for Corpus Christi cops. Now that im a cop, I vow never to treat anyone, regardless of crime, like that.

One of our local Mexicans made an error in judgement and tried changing lanes BEFORE he passed me completely.
He hit the left side front fender and forced me into the right lane where I tapped the rear of a stopped SUV with the right corner of my front bumper. He is claiming I'm at fault!
Best thing is this is the only officer I ever heard personally ticketed by the police chief for running a red light WHILE on DUTY!
I have a few buddies on the job and they were laughing when telling me the story.

Passing someone doing 120 mph and getting sideways for 30 feet in a parking lot (both of which were witnessed by law enforcement) leads to tickets, points on your license, and loss of your hard earned $$$.
What did you expect? Whether or not the cops were being jerks is really irrelevant. They have the discretion of what violation to charge you with. If you don't agree, you have the option of fighting it in court.
The point being, don't put yourself in those kinds of situations and you won't have to have these lovely meetings with LEO's who may or may not be having a bad day and looking to teach some young guy with a hot rod car a lesson.
All of us like to enjoy the performance aspect of our vettes from time to time....but discreetly, or at the track.
Hell, I was 23, paying $350 a month for my 4-banger Toyota Tacoma 2-wheel drive, and didn't have a Vette. AND I didn't give cops a reason to fugg with me.
reread my posting, for starters i said the first one was my fault and did not complain about it one bit and was VERY greatful for the cop not throwing the book at me... SECOND "i went 30 From where i broke traction" and the came from out of nowhere, NOT that i drifted 30 feet...
But thanks for the "Dad" Speach
