I am considering a custom paint job...nothing way out there, but I like GM's new Black Granite Metallic...and was thinking about painting my car that color...thoughts on not keeping the stock color?

As long as it is a top quality job and a color that would appeal to a potential future buyer, go for it. I've seen the color you mention and it is beautiful.
Complete repaint of a non factory color just screams out rebuilt wreck in the aftermarket.
Probably right but frankly I'm tired of the same handfull (or two) of colors. I say go for it, someone will love it enough to break away from the cookie cutter mould as well and buy it from you.
