Default Heat from Center Console

All, I've noticed (for a long time) that I have quite a bit of heat that leaks out from my center console, especially down by my right leg. I'm sure I'm not the first.

What kind of product do you recommend I use to insulate?

Thanks

Consider a tunnel plate, like the one from Elite Engineering.

Try these. I finished doing the cockpit last night with the Reflectix. I took it out for a test run and didn't feel any heat at all. Now I need to get some FrostKing material and do the back.

I bought the Elite engineering tunnel plate, it dramatically dropped the temperature of the center console.

The EE "Thermal Abs" plate did WONDERS for my car. No noticeable heat increase with a full exhaust system anymore, and only a very minor heat increase coming from down under with the (down under) twin turbo system.

I installed the "Black Maxx" tunnel cover without any insulation. What a big difference it made. I'm happy!!

Tks Bruce,

We switched from a black ceramic to a gold ceramic, but it's the same great plate at a CCA everyday low price

Peace
Chip

I have an Elite Engineering tunnel plate and it really works great. It made a tremendous difference

For icing on the cake, my tunnel is insulated and I don't feel a thing at all even in the piping hot Southern California summers.

A good tunnel plate along with some insulation under the carpet will significantly reduce the heat you are experiencing. Either the Elite Engineering plate or the one from Willfulone are good choices.

Since I started the thread, I thought I'd make a final comment as I took the time to insulate the console this weekend. Basically, it's the same procedure as putting in a short throw. Took out the arm rest, and front console. I bought this product at Lowes, it was mentioned on the forum, Infratex (I think that's the name) $20 for a big role. It can be used for a host of applications from walls to attics to roofs. Basically looks like aluminum foil, has a pocket of air in the middle, then another layer of this foil like stuff. Supposed to block 97% thermal heat. It's about a 1/4in thick and I wrapped everything I could with it. I will say, it was a slight challenge getting everything back in place to screw in with the insulation, but it all came together. I didn't have time to get out and drive much, but I'm sure it'll make a big difference. Thanks to all for your comments.
