Under hard acceleration the back of the seat seems to snap out of position and move back a few clicks. Other than replacing the seat (can't seem to do that AND stay in SCCA's SS class), are there other alternatives? Is this a known issue for which there is a generally acceptable "bubba fix" that someone can point me toward?
This happened to me yesterday on all 3 of my Autocross runs (pretty distracting, by the way), but only happened a couple times on Saturday, mostly toward the end of the day (13 runs total).
FWIW, I have the seat back nearly vertical for competition, but laid back a little for street driving.
You have to replace the adjusters on the seat base. My 97 would never pop backwards under load but my 03Z does all the time. Dealer tech couldn't figure out what was wrong with the seat as it only does it under very high G load and when I have the seat back vertical. It seems to not happen as much if the seat back is laid slightly back from vertical. It also seems to happen on one side Vs both sides of the seat.
If you do a search for "twisting seat problem" you will find a thread that I started. The adjustment cables are out of alignment. Now, when I would make the adjustments it would feel great for a day or two, then go back to slipping or "twisting" as some have described it. So I found a local member with standard seats that only had 15k on them and I bought them and swapped the drivers seats and I have not had a problem since.
