I got a check engine light last night on my way home from work. Brought up the codes on the DIC, and I'm finding out from some people that it may be the K&N cold intake system. A few people told me that the MAF may have oil on it. Anybody run into this??? And should I just clean it, and then keep an eye on it??

I took it apart on my lunch, it didn't look dirty at all, but I sprayed real good with carb cleaner. Thats all I had. I cleared all codes and we will se what happens on the way home.
P0171 &P0174......lean on both banks. probably an air leak.. I had the exact same codes a few months ago and the engine would not idle well, and occasionally stall. I found a split in the PCV air hose just behind the throttle body on the RH side.Of course GM wanted $300.00 for the hose assembly.(which they didn't have in stock at the dealer). I told them to put in a piece of 3/8 fuel line to replace the split hose. Worked fine.......cost $11.00, cleared the codes, runs great.......
I'll look over all the hoses over the weekend. So far since I cleaned the MAF, then cleared the codes I haven't gotten the check engine light again. I think if oil from the K&N is really the problem, K&N should know about this. Why sell a product that gives problems to the user, and not do something to correct this. At some point I will have to clean & re-oil the filter.
