Paint spot from bird dropping. i need help ?
Hi guy's , newbee 03 Z06 . i had a bird dropping on the hood (1/2"dia.)
it was there 24 hours. it left a stain even after washing. i tried a clay bar
it's still there. this car has a beautiful finish on ,it garaged ,11K miles, it's babied. How do i remove this spot? it looks like it eat through the clear coat. the car color is torch red.

The clear coat is much thicker than your red base coat.The bird dropping probably only etched the top surface of your clear finish.
Rub out the area with WHITE polishing compound on a dampened piece of terry cloth.Then apply your favorite polish or wax over the area.

with the above replies...I'd try claybar (the most abrasive grade first)...

Go over to Autopia.org, they will know how to properly correct your spot. You can try a clay bar, but it won't be agressive enough.

clay wont remove that, you will need to have it removed by someone that can use a rotary to properly level the paint back out.

My wife thinks i'm nuts with all the fussing over this machine....
but she comes out of the garage saying " that car is so cool i love looking at it"

sorry to break it to you, but c5 clearcoar is very hard, its very doubtful that you will remove any etching from the finish by hand unless you work on that same spot for a very very long time.
a professional with a rotary could probably fix that 1 spot in less than an hour.

Damned birds! There oughta be a law
I've had the same problem with anything that sits outside for more than ten minutes. My wifey feeds the damned things and they show their appreciation by leaving deposits on my rigs
I use Meguiar's Cleaner Wax and a bunch of elbow grease. It gits-r-done
