Every once in a while
I know the car inside and out and drive the car every day. For whatever reason though, every once in a while, there are those drives that stand out among the everyday drives made in the car. For example the drive to lunch today; targa removed (always), 67° and sunny; it is a perfect setting. The car felt perfect and faster than usual. It's probably my imagination, but some days my Corvette feels noticeably faster than others. It felt fast today, and the Granatelli exhaust was making perfect noise at all points in the rev ban. It was no more than 15 minutes round trip, but it was one of the drives during which I tend to leave the car in each gear a bit longer and push the gas pedal a bit further.
These are the drives that outshine whatever leisurely activity to which you might be commuting. When the cars feels this good I don't even look over at the golf course, and no way would I pull in and get out of this car to play (and I love golf). I can't tell you how many times my wife and I have arrived at our fun destination (movie, concert, theme park, etc), and I honestly would rather just drive. These drives are the reason I was so motivated to get one of these cars as soon as I could afford one, and the reason I don't mind the small quirks they develop, even with only 20K miles. These cars are awesome.
I also have 3-4 pre-planned routes near my house that I have pre-selected to be safe for the vette (IE: no construction, no deep manhole covers, no potholes, no dips that drag) and offer maximum fun (one or two onramps, short highway bursts, backroad 2-lane 55mph zones in twisties, etc.)
Guess I'm pretty lucky to have a few really good routes near where I live.
Told me my left rear tire was losing air when it was really the right; but that's another story for another time.I hear ya about those special days. Even yesterday while heading to work on a perfect morning, I remember thinking that I don't want to get there.

I have a smile on my face by the time I get to work and a smile on my face by the time I get home. How great is that!!!
And a couple of times a month, ROAD TRIP on weekends. I got it last October with 25K miles, and it has about 45K now.
I daily drive my C5 and my commute is 3 minutes if the light is green, 4+ if its red. lately I've been taking another route which makes the drive twice as long just because I love the ride.
I made the mistake of taking the Targa off yesterday while I had a slightly longer trip to take. I figured I'd be moving most of the time. ended up in accident traffic with no way to get the top back on. it was 100+ in extreme high humidity and not a cloud in the sky. I was insane for thinking about going topless in the first place, but really thought it would be alright at 70+. we ended up in stop and go with the roof off, windows up, A/C on as high as it could go, and my girl and I both got sunburned anyway in the 40 minutes we were stuck. once we were through I pulled over on the side of the road to put the roof back on. I'll never take it off again before october or November when the temps drop below 90.
but hey, we were in the vette...who cares? it was fun.
can it be winter yet?

). It made me forget about the bad stuff and just smile. I totally hear you about reaching a destination and wanting to keep driving...so much so, I think the wife and I will go for a cruise just for the sake of driving this weekend
Replaced the foanm in the drivers seat and the thing felt brand new. I think sometimes it lives.
