That's funny, I started out with an 01 Z51 Coupe, loved the lines of it. I was initially not a fan of the Z06/FRC, I just didn't like the notchback look. After having the coupe for about a year and a half, I realized that I really did like the Z06 roof line and the overall look, not to mention the power and handling, so I traded up. I can honestly say that while I do occasionally miss the open air aspect of the coupe, I don't think I would ever trade back to either a C5 or C6 coupe (maybe a C6 Z06). For me it will have to be a C5 Z or a C6 vert until they come up with something else. Just my $.02.
Ive owned an 01 coupe and the open air was great, but i traded it in for the Z and love it (body lines, and the complete package) and still do but I was missing some open air. I decided to perform and operation to take car of this issue.
thanks guys I think Im gonna be sticking with my Z. It is the best C5 Of the breed and the last of the Flip up headlights which I love. Thanks for the thoughts.
if the Z06 had a targa; that's what I would of bought.
I hafta have some sorta "open roof" - whether it be a targa or vert.
I need the open air, so I figure a cam and heads will make it run as good or better than a Z06. Plus the wife won't drive a stick, and as I get older I can't be bothered with one either. So....... I guess it's back to personal preference. Enjoy David

I always liked the lines of the coupe over the other models, plus I just wanted the extra storage space in the back. But, hard to beat the overall performance of a Z.
Open tops on the targa arent all that great. I mean i love it, but when i cruise with the wife she gets all flustered because of the turbulance. Her hair is all over the place and god forbid we're going to dinner and she has to look perfect. When im cruising alone its great though. Thats just one aspect.

I hear ya; but my wife has just as long of hair as she did when we married 26 years ago; and she's always riding/driving our Corvettes with the targa off or vert top down.
Have your wife investigate a clip or visor that will keep her flowing hair in check; remove it when arriving at your destination.

My hair goes to the bottom of my back and I drive a targa ... tell her if she puts it up with a pencil or one of those chinese stick things vs a rubber band or "hair tie" it won't have bumps in it when arriving to dinner. It doesnt mess it up at all, just keeps it in place! I wear my hair down at work but have to have the targa off on the way to work lol, I've learned a few tricks!
My wife is very stubborn, i know ive asked her to put it up while we drive. The argument always ends up with her telling me, i dont even like this car!! Shes not very much into sports cars, shes more of a small SUV woman, the Toyaota Highlander to be exact. But i will definitely use the "Lady CF member's" advice.
