Hello there everyone. I have a question about the 2003 50th anniversary edition Corvette. I have looked through the search articles for a bit, but didn't find anything matching my criteria (forgive me if there is a post, spent a few minutes searching but no luck).
My dad and I recently went down to this dealership which claims to have the most corvette's in the area (and seems to be pretty true). We found this beautiful 50th anniversary corvette.. but the problem is that it is Dark Grey. (link to dealership's page of corvette http://hendrick-chevrolet.ebizautos....px?iid=3083479)
I was under the impression that 50th anniversary corvette's were only in the special red, not sure of full name. Umm.. am i just mistaken and there are other colors of the 50th anniversary or is something wrong here? The salesman said it was one owner who did nothing to his car.
Overall, it was a beautiful car and the price seems to be around what we're willing to pay for it.
All '03s received the hood badging (not sure about the decklid), but only those with the special 50th Anniversary Edition option package got the shale colored interior, the special champagne colored wheels, and the like. And those were all in the special Anniversary Red color. Option code was Z25.
All 2003 Corvettes are 50th anniversary cars. They all came with silver hood and trunk 50th Ann badging. However, there is only one special edition 50th ann model that was done in the 50th Ann red color, speical interior color, champaign wheel color, and special fender badging. I think that was the only car that you could get the Magnetic Ride control shocks option on as well; first year for this option. Hope this help. The gray you are talking about is called Spiral Gray and it is a great color. I believe they only made it for 2 years. If the car you are looking at is in good shape, you should consider it. Have fun.
Hi, If the dealer, or anyone else says that a 2003 Vette is a 50th Anniversary car, they are not incorrect, but they are not telling you the entire story. It's true that all 2003 vettes were 50th Anniversary cars and received the 50th badges. But only the package listed below is the "50th AE,(Anniversary Edition). It came with all the items listed below, and was 3700 to 5000 more money depending on the time of year you bought it, and the discount you got. There were only 7547 verts and 4085 cpes made. All the rest made that year were 50th year cars, but not 50AE packaged cars, which most believe holds the true distinction as the true 50th anniversary car.
Let the flame begin
Good Luck

All of the options with the exception of the paint(officially called Anniversary Red), the shale interior (and top color in the case of the convertible), the fender badging and the champagne colored thin spokes were available on all of the models.
The F55 Magnetic Ride was only available on the coupe or convertible, not the Z06. It was part of the 1SC package which made up the special anniversary edition.
All 2003 Corvettes had the silver 50th anniversary badging on the nose and rear deck lid, and the convertibles had the 50th anniversary badge on the waterfall as well.
The Medium Spiral Gray metallic was only available on 2003 and 2004 coupes and convertibles. It was not offered on the Z06.
This web site will cover most of the O.P.'s availability questions -
I was at the dealer last night looking at a 427 SE Vette same price as a Z06 signed inside the center console lid, by whom I don`t know?, I had to inform him of the color/combo that truly denotes the real 50th AE.
Saw a 07 Vert new, low 50`s, about 4 08 6Z06 ( I`ll take the 3LT blue one please), I strongly note used C5`s DO NOT last on there lot very long at all, even in so so condition. C6`s on the other hand, yipes they just sit month after month with rusted rotors, kinda sad, I quess.
Wow, thank you so much guys! Yeah, when i saw the icon on the hood, i was like ".. wait, what the hell? are they trying to rip people off?"
My dad's still thinking about it, 'cause it seems like a fairly nice price for the 'vette given it's options and miles so /crosses fingers.

Einn
All 2003's are 50th Anniversary cars. The "Anniversary Edition" comes in the red you mention. The Anniversary Edition was by far the most common in 2003. Also, all 2003's have the 50th emblems both front and rear as well as on the gauge cluster tach and speedometer.
One note about 2003's, it was the first year in decades where there were more Convertibles than other models.

Hi, not sure I agree with the statement that the AE package was the most common in 2003. There were 35,469 cars built in 2003, of which 33% were AE cars. So only 1/3 were AE Cars. It was the most favored in color as compared on a color by color basis, as no other one color had more than the 33% share that the AE Packaged car had.
Also the Magnetic Selective Ride Control which was standard on the AE Packaged car was on 42% of the cars produced that year, of which 33% were AE's, so only 9% of the non AE Cars had it.
The following link has all the production numbers , options, codes, and such for the 2003 car. http://www.corvetteactioncenter.com/.../2003prod.html
Below is the breakdown by color.

What are you waiting for? That Spiral Gray Metallic is of 1,213 produced in '03, so in essence, it is by far much rarer than a 1SC PKG Anniversary Red / Shale interior '03. Tell Pops to pull the trigger. He won't regret it!
Guys, all of these cars were made in the last 10 years so they aren't rare, exotic, special, collectable, antique, Barrett-Jackson type of cars, etc. Just buy the color and trans type of C5 you like and drive away.
Hi, not sure I agree with the statement that the AE package was the most common in 2003.
I was simply saying, in other words, there were about twice as many Anniversary Red coupes(4085) than the 2nd most popular color, Medium Spiral Gray(2086). And Convertibles, 5 times as many Anniversary Reds(7,547) to the 2nd most popular color, Black(1398). Well over half of all Verts built in 2003 were Anny Red. Hope this clears it up for you.
Too bad they didn't make a Z06 in Anny Red. THAT would look outstanding!
