So i was at ACE hardware this afternoon picking up some guy stuff when i remembered i could get some weather strip to use as a hood seal. I found some that was 1/2" tall and figured id try it. It took me all of about 3 minutes to open the package tear off the unused tape and stick it on. Now dont take this lightly, i did need help with this.....
Now if i didnt have Duke here to help me, it would have been a disaster.
BTW, I think 5/8" would work just a hair better, this only cost me 5.99.
Exactly what I did a year ago. I just noticed today that it was coming undone. I think I'll try my local auto parts store and look for an automotive weather seal.
Nice dog, bet he/she is a handful considering the size!
I have to give a thumbs down on this mod. Why would you want a porous absorbent material (sponge practically) there to hold water and dirt?
Examine the factory strips along the sides. They act like a flap and affix to the side instead of the bottom. For just a few dollars you could get the same strip for the side, and trim it to fit. That way it all looks like the factory did it. It doesn't hold water either.
He is a handful, hes got a little bit bigger brother a german shephard in the backyard thats just as energetic. I agree, it may not have been the best 6 bucks ive spent but i thought id give it a try. If it doesnt work its not a huge set back, not like getting corsas for 1200 and instead you want magnaflows for 800. I respect your opnion though, thats what the forum is for
Nice dog. You saved some money on the hood seal, but that open cell foam is going to get dirty quickly. The "Corvette tax" hood seal is a closed cell foam just like oem...
I doesn't surprise me that a Texan needed a dog's hep for that very complicated mod install!
Where i come from, thems uh fightin' words!
Gotta love the texas jokes. I get the whole thing about dirt, water and what-not. The rainy season is dwindling over here in Seattle so im not too worried about the rain. In about 2 months i plan to get a ranger or S10 as a commuter, and something to carry the 2 dogs i have. With that said, itll be a weekend/luxury car, 99% chance itll never see rain again. I just wanted it to keep the bay clean. Besides, i can handle a little mud and water as long as this seal helps me go from a 13.1sec 1/4 mile down around 11.1-11.2sec....at least thats what i read
