It has come to our attention that there is a rumor out there stating ECS uses used parts when building your gears and we want to clarify that this is not the truth.
Our gears swaps are done while you watch using only NEW parts. All gear sets are cryo treated and micro polished.
We do use your carrier (core), but we feel that it is better to use your carrier which you know the way you treated your car versus getting a recycled carrier (core) from somewhere that you have no idea the way it was treated. It would be faster for us to build a bunch of carriers with different gear sets and then just take them off the shelf when you asked for one, but again we feel that you should know exactly what parts you are getting and by using your carrier you know how you treated your car.
Some of the perceived lower quality comes from the fact that ECS prices are lower than other shops. The reason we are able to keep our prices lower is because we do all of our gear swaps in house. We do not have to pay another shop for the install like some other shops have to. This keeps the price lower which we pass onto our customers. We could easily raise the price to get rid of the perception "you get what you pay for", but we feel as long as we are able to cover our costs than why add an unnecessary Corvette Tax. Of course as prices in the industry increase we will have no choice, but to raise our prices.
As far as quality we have 1000s of gear swaps out in the field. If there was a big issue with quality I am sure that the members of Corvette Forum would know about it, but I have never seen a post stating ECS gears are bad. I am not saying we are perfect and occasionally we do have issues with gears, but we promptly take care of our customers to fix any problems.
As far as reliability I can give you 1 good example - my 4.10 gears were my original mod years back. I had over 50 1/4 mile passes with them and then decided to move over to road racing and electing for a 3.73 gears for my own personal reasons. I sold my carrier with the 4.10 gears to a customer who continues to 1/4 mile to this day without any issues. We all know that 1/4 mile is brutal on cars and if they are withstanding this punishment they will withstand the street punishment on street tires.
I hope this defuncts any of the rumors that have been spreading. If at any time you have a question please feel free to ask us.

Whew.......You had me worried Bob.
Not because I ever doubted ECS for one minute, rather I thought this was an on-sale thread, a few days after I just got gears f'ing done.
I can understand the post though, sometimes others will throw out FUD to make it sound like thier doing a better job than thier competitors rather than just getting down to business and let the results speak for themselves.
I think everyone can agree that ECS has proven results over and over.
You guys did a fantastic job on my 4:10's over two years ago and yes I was there when you put the new gears in. I've had no problems what so ever. It's by far the biggest bang for the buck performance wise..
thanks guys for the feedback. ECS has done its best to provide top notch service at the shop and now with ECS Racing at the track. I guess when you are one of the top performance shops in the country stories are made up to try and steal business.
Even with our low prices, our top notch quality and great customer service feedback we unfortunately lost some business to the rumor mill. I guess CF is a double edge sword and you need to watch your back all the time.
My biggest gripe about ECS and your gear swaps, is that your so damned far away from Tampa!
I priced out a gear change from a local shop in Sarasota, Florida (I won't say the name) and they quoted me $1750 for the carrier and around $750 for the labor. I was like "forget it, I'll stick with my 3.42's".
Do you have another viable option for potential customers like myself?
Who started that BS rumor? I watched ever step along the way of Sir Doug. It was not to make sure I wasn't being cheated but it was something I never seen done before and yes new parts were used.......I seen them 1st hand. There are just too many haters out there.
ECS changed out my 2.73 gears with the new Z06 carrier and 3.42's. It is a much sweeter ride for sure. It was great to watch the mechanic (Mark) change out that rear in such a short time. Not only professional but also personable. At a separate time I had ECS install the Vararam and American Racing header kit. Again, professional work. You can use me as a reference anytime Bob.
