Hey Guys. I posted this earlier and from your responses I caused some confusion. Own an 02 C5 but also looking at an '82 C3, Anniversary Edition. Know the seller to be the original owner (he showed me the bill of sale from the dealership), garage kept all these years, 22K miles not 122K. Immaculate from all I could see. No rust anywhere underneath. Is it worth $24K???????
unless you're thinking of an investment and an '82 Collector edition is not an investment. The 24k asking price is more than the 22.5k window sticker price , which was just under 20% more than the standard Y87. The Collectors Edition was the first Vette to cost more than 20K.
Look I like the c3 body style , I've owned three of them, from 1973 ( last year of the LT1 and slash rear end style), 1978 25th Silver Anniversary L98 and the 1979 Pace car.
The '82 being the last year of the 'Mako style' makes this a tired style ( my opinion and many others since it had the lowest sales of all c3 model years). It did have the hatch back window, first year for the th700-r4 ( if I recall correctly , God I hate getting old) and the L83 Cross Fire twin TBI with 200hp (all the '82 Vettes , even California emissions cars had 200 hp) was one of only two years that the twin TBI was used ( not counting the three(3) 1983 Vettes) Not a big step up from '81 350 190hp ( being sarcastic, sorry). The twin TBI was also used in the all new C4 for 1984 ( which is the least desired C4 produced).
Ok the '82 was the only C3 model year that did NOT offer a 4 spd manual tranny. No changes to the chassis other than 60 series tires ( the same chassis since 1978) Other than some 'turbine ' rims and a 'iffy' paint scheme there were no real changes.
But like I stated earlier , the value is up to you. But my opinion again , if you want a C3 the year to get is the 1969.

Actually slight suspension change from '78 in that both the '81 and '82 got the one piece fiber glass rear spring replacement over the previous heavy rear metal leaf spring. '81 was the first year to have computer control. Believe the '82 original poster is referring to is called the collector edition, not anniversery.
I just checked with American sports car center ,web is buyavette.net ,they have them for around 20,000 -22,500. Didn't realize they were that much higher than a standard 82.
