Removed my AIR pipes from my headers some time ago and tuned out whatever was needed. Yesterday I was doing some work on the car and noticed while it's on it is pulling a fair amount of vacuum through the tube near my airbox. This tube is routed through a small hole that was made in the shroud before I bought the car which is why I'd never noticed it before. My questions are:
1) Should it be pulling vacuum if it's been unhooked from the headers?
2) Where is it getting the vacuum?
3) Should I find/remove the AIR pump at this point or would simply plugging the line work.
Found this thread on a search - http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...t=check+valves It might not answer all of your questions but will answer a couple. How's it going BTW? You need to swing by and check out the seat skins I got

Thanks man, I just found that thread too after searching for a while.
I guess I need to finish the removal of the air pump and cap that vacuum line. I also need to replace the vac line from back of the intake manifold to the vac resivoir.
Anyone have any suggestions on the easiest way to get to that?
The link you found should have helped you answer your question -
Perhaps you could just unplug the air pump, but I am not sure if you would get thrown codes then or not.
I left the AIR system intact on my Z06 when I went with headers.
The tube going to the air-cleaner, and plumbed into the clean air side, is the air intake pickup for the air pump, so I assume what you are seeing is suction from the electric air-pump motor as opposed to vacuum from the engine itself (i.e. no vacuum leaks....)
