Default does this vin# list exist?

Hey all, may be a crazy thread but does anyone know if by year and vin# you can follow color releases on the assembly line? Just wondering what was the color on the car before and after my car on the line.....may want to track it down one day and have consecutive numbered cars!

In a word, no.

Too, as GM built test, pilot and prototype vehicles for upcoming model years on the same production line along with current model year cars, there is a possibility, although very slim, that the car in front or behind yours may not have even been a 2003 model year car. They could have been 2004 pilot or even C6 prototype vehicles for that matter.

We delayed taking Museum delivery of our 2003 vert due to the plant being closed to tours during the first 2 weeks in April 2003. Rumor had it then that they were building some C6 test or prototype cars during that time, thus the reason for closing the plant for tours.

GM later made many of these test/pilot/prototype vehicles into saleable vehicles. You can find a little more info on the test/pilot/prototype vehicles at the link below. Too, James Schefter wrote about these cars in his book, All Corvettes Are Red. This book is a good read and one that I would recommend to any Corvette and especially C5 enthusiast.

I have the WD1 RPO code on the sheet in my glovebox. Did some research on it and found out that a dealer had a 383 installed for a sale to an individual. I bought it from a dealer who bought it from a special lease auction as the person wanting the 383 never came through on the sale.
