Default Headers?

Have an 02 Z starting to look at header purchase. Looking at the Kooks or LG primarily. Will be keeping my factory "cat-back". I like the tone and am not a fan of extremely loud cars. So question is how much louder can I expect with a header,x-pipe,cat system.

And what difference/suggestions between "hi flow" and "metal matrix" cats

Also any thoughts on primary tube size..... future plans are to stay fairly mild CIA, headers, tune, and maybe just maybe mild cam and port work on factory heads..not stroker or big cam, big heads or anything.

TIA

Kooks, LG, or American Racing are the highest rated by most. 1.75" will give you the best match for your plans. Get the headers ceramic coated even though they are stainless. Helps with the heat. Metal Matrix are high flow cats.

Metal Matrix cats are made by Random Technologies and are some of the best cats made and only cost about 2-5 hp.
Now that said, I disagree with vsocks1 about the ceramic coating, you can barley see the header from the top of the car so it will not be for looks and there has been a debate as to whether or not they provide any power increase or heat reduction over stainless. Mine are un-coated and I have no heat issues in TX. I would spend the additional money for coating elsewhere.

I had the LG set-up on mine before I sold the car with the hi-flow cats. The sound when your not in the throttle is nice and very tolerable....no drone. When you hit the gas harder the sound gets louder and very sweet. Youll love it. Not "punky" or "highschool" like in the least. Nice deep tone and with the higher rpms, its just pure music through the Ti's.

I'm about to add the LG's w/cats and I have the Corsa Indys. Hoping this will be a good combo. Anyone have this setup that could give me some feedback?
