Default black chrome waterspots

I've had the Black chrome inserts for almost a month now and everytime they get rained on they spot very badly. Any ideas on how to remove the spots? I've tried glass cleaner, plain water and scrubbing, but they are still there. After a good scrubbing the bulk of it goes away but you can still see spots. Other then the spotting problem they are amazing!!! Here is a pic of what i'm talking about.

Get with Chip from CCA, I think he sells them. Maybe he can give some insight on what to use.

Check with the folks in the Car Care Discussion section of the Forum. Several very knowledgeable people and a few professional detailers hang out there and one of them should be able to help you.

Good luck!

I'm thinking that the chrome polish, like eagle 1, that come in the little plastic jars would easily remove the marks and perhaps even help prevent it from happening in the future... ?

Did you seal them with anything?

You want to treat black chrome the same way you treat chrome. get a good sealer and make sure you get a couple of coats on it.

Those look like they have had some kind of chemical on them?

Mine have been on my car for 4 months now, 20 or more washes and they look just like the day I put them on.

Try some straight alcohol.

Let me know, I'll send you another set

Peace
Chip

I'll try some alcohol and see if that gets the spots off. The only chemicals that would be on it would have been from good ole Houston rain. Hopefully I can get these looking good. I'll let you know what i come up with. Oh, and do you have a suggestion on what sealer to use, I wasn't aware that these needed to be sealed.

You need to treat these just like you would chrome. Protect them from the elements

I use Zaino Z2.

I can also suggest Rejex or Zoop that we know works well.

Peace

I used some alcohol and a micro fiber cloth and the spots came off with a little scrubbing. Thanks Chip for the advice, I will get them sealed ASAP!

I like the fact that the product is unaffected by heat

Just remember, start with a clean surface, because you will seal in any contaminants, including finger prints

Chip, Thanks for the tips on this and a question, why not on the paint? When I go pick up my 09 at the Museum I was going to put on the Rejex before I drive 1,000 miles home

I was polishing my exhaust tips yesterday with regular Mother's Metal polish and looked up to see spots on my black chrome i guess from the rain. I hit them with the mother's and it was gone...good luck

I've actually been using Rejex for everything.. I think Zaino's quality went into the toilet a year or two ago and I haven't been back.
