Default Noise limits Houston, TX

Fellas,

I've just installed long tubes with offroad x pipe and I have Pace Corsa exhaust. I'm considerably loud compared to before. I am wondering if anyone here could shed some light on the matter of getting in trouble with the Popos. I don't want to get a citation for noise violation. Any help would be appreciated.

I have similar set-up, just keep your eyes open if you decide to open it up, I'm sure hard accel near police will at least get a meet and greet with said LEO.

Default heh

Yeah I know that it would be a definite meet and greet. I mean this thing is absurdly loud, and I do enjoy it but I think that my apt neighbors don't appreciate it. Especially when i crank it inside my 2 car garage and their living room is above my garage. It is like an amplification of the depths of HELL!!

I have the same set up as well (w/cats) and though louder (read: sounds better) it's only at WOT that it screams; are you running cats?

I'm not aware of anything specific in the way of sound/noise limits, at least not as far as any specific Db requirements. As far as I know it's pretty much up to a LEO as to what he might consider too loud. If he/she is a REAL PITA, they might try to gig you on some sort failure to use an OEM exhaust or some such crap, but most any traffic lawyer can usually get that shot down as some LEOs will just issue a citation with little or no knowledge of an actual law and just want to flex their LEO muscles. Considering the number of Harleys I hear with damn near straight pipes, I wouldn't think you should have any problem unless, like some others have said, you just get too crazy around or near some PITA "popo".

HTH

Cajundude's 402 TT with EnglandGreen Whiplash cam is VERY loud - no problems from the local Constabulary. If anything, we get the thumbs up from the Police.

Constabulary???
I think EG's back to making up words again.

Texas Leos usually don't care about loud cars unless you're *trying* to be loud (aka revving, doughnuts, burnouts, or blasting the stereo in the wee hours of the morning)
