Default Headlight Pin

I have a headlight which will not pop up. I played around with it and found that the arm which lifts the light is just hanging freely. The pin which attaches the the light is missing. Where can I get a replacement, or what can I use as a replacement? Thanks!

I read about this before.
The member just matched it up with a bolt with two nuts to keep it loose enough to act like a loose fitting pin.
Try a search. I know someone had the same issue this spring.
Good luck and keep us posted

Still trying to locate it in the parts manual. I looked at mine and I can't get to it to measure it, but it looks like about a 5/16" by 2" pin with a retainer on the end. I know it's probably metric, but I'm not sure what size. I'll keep looking in the parts manual.
Anyone have a headlight assy off they can measure?

That sounds about right. My pin almost came out a few years ago when the lock washer came off. If you raise your other headlight and remove only the black bezel around it you should be able to measure the pin. I know it's like a carriage pin that's flat on one and, about 2" long and is locked in place with a lock washer. you should be able to get any similar diameter bolt at HD or Lowes and is shouldn't matter if you find one with a lock washer or use a nut.

One of mine fell out after doing the HID upgrade. The star washer fell out and the pinn wiggled loose. Luckily, it fell down into the fascia neverland underneath and was still in there when I looked down. You may want to put your hand down in there and feel around for the pin or pull out the access panel underneath to see if yours is still there as mine was.

Not sure of the pin size off-hand but measuring the other one and replaceing with a bolt/nut combo as suggested would work fine. I know mine was close to 3/8".

Thanks guys.... I'll just pull the other one off and go match it up at the hardware store.

I dont know why I am having such bad luck with the headlights, but I am missing another part on the other headlight. The plastic cap that fits on the inner side of the headlight is lost and gone. I'll do a search.

I used a 4" cotter pin. I found a pin used to install a garage door rail to the header bracket. worked perfect. Oh and the cap for the side of the headlight was in the engine compartment. Good deal. If anyone needs one, let me know. Just pay shipping!
