Default Temp Control display out....???

I was driving yesterday and my display for the temp readout and the screen was blank. I hope it's just a fuse if any one has had this happen to them please let me know....

Were your headlights on? There's no fuse...

No it was sunny out... had the twilight sentinel on (Canadian car). I don't like to hear that there is no fuse.

Not to over simplify it, but the first thing I would do it check the dimming switch for the interior lights and make sure it's not turned off.

No I appreciate any help... I thought of that straight away. the little dial on the left with the light bulb on it. I turned it all around.

Well don't panic just yet.

I know "Englandgreen" did a write up on re-soildering the connections in there.... it's not hard from what I remember... try a search for "HVAC display" or something... I'll try as well.

This should help...

EDIT::: Try this one...

Thanks but after skimming the thread it looks like it's more for dim displays than no displays... I was kinda looking for a quick fix. who isn't. I will take a cruise and see if I can see anything at all on the display...

In daylight the dim display is not visible... It is just barely visible at night....

I will try that sounds quick and easy... Just curious did you used to own a ford... Hitting them seems to help (If that doesn't fix it get a bigger hammer)

Feel your pain. I am sure you have bad solder joints, tapping the screen makes the chip contacts stronger and makes the display brighter for a while before going dim and out again. I resolderd (did a **** poor job) the joints and that worked for a while but the display finally gave way. I recently bought a used unit for $33 and swapped the boards out and have a perfect working display again. Should not cost you more than $100 for a used one or $50 for repairs.
