Garage Mod - Phase 2

Since then, the garage has filled slowly with more and more 'crap' that I just can't seem to get rid of.
Phase 2 began a few days ago, by adding five cabinets from Lowes
http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?actio...870-444-WS48MP, and black/white/grey floor tiles from Home Depot http://www.samsclub.com/shopping/nav...=5&item=360845.

I wouldn't call the cabinets the best for holding lots of heavy items, they're particle board, functional, and look decent enough. If I were needing to hold lots of heavy items, I definitely wouldn't have gone this route, as they have some really good $80 shelves that hold a ton. My intent was some very functional cabinets that could close and keep the contents both out of sight and semi-protected from the dust and dirt of a garage.
The floor tiles seemed like a bargain after all of the research I had done. I ended up with three boxes of black, three boxes of white, and two boxes of grey (4o 1sq ft tiles per box). It covers a 16ft wide by 20ft deep area, and leaves space on either side for the cabinets (and other garbage that still needs to be removed).
I've replaced three different incandecent 100 watt bulbs with 200 watt CFL bulbs. These bulbs are awesome! I had originally expected that I would need to install some 40" flourescent light panels to make it nice and bright, but these three bulbs alone ($9/ea) do the trick.
Phase 2 will continue into the holiday weekend with two more cabinets to replace the open shelving in the lower right... oh, and trashing more crap.
I've seen a ton of _really_ nice garages on here, the only difficulty I've found is trying to decide where to keep all the garbage I'd normally keep in the garage. Hopefully the two additional cabinets solve that issue, and I'm left with a nice work area and haven for the car.
Phase 3 will include a portable 12,000 btu A/C unit for those warm summer evenings when we're doing tiki bar assembly work. Insulation in the garage attic and foam insulation on the garage door are planned too.

ps- the bikes you see in 2006 hanging in the upper left, and sitting on the floor in 2008 in the lower right, were not ridden once in that timeframe. Perhaps it's time to sell the bicycles?

Good idea on the light bulb change out, think I'll pick some up on the way home tomorrow. I have those Lowe's cabinets in my office. I use the Black and Decker plastic ones shown in the thread for the garage. They are actually pretty good for moderately heavy stuff. My next phase is building a wall around the front raised floor with doors to hide all the stored items.
