I have read up on lowering and seen many pics that I love. I want to lower my car but I have the contoured splash guards on my car and would like some feedback. Anyone have any pics with these??? I love them for the track because they really save the lower side body panels from dings. But I'm not sure it would work with lowering the car if I'm going to constantly break them off.
I bought some thin black colored glass-reinforced polypropylene sheet material and cut out splash guards. On the rear I use on of the inner liner screws and a small binder clip to secure it. The front I use two inner liner screws. No holes drilled. I also use a Scotch clear guard as well on the lower fender/rockers. Trimmed it nicely and replace once a year. The contoured guards are really nice looking, but I wanted something "disposable". Good luck.
If you look at my profile there is a picture of the guards from the side. It's not the best picture to show this but it's mainly the front guards I'm worried about. I think the back ones will still have plenty of clearance if I lower the car.
I'm in the same boat. I've got a set of the contoured guards ready to install and I've already lowered my car. When I place the front guard on the fender it measures 3" from bottom of guard to the ground. I can't return them as they are painted to match my car. I've thought about triming an inch or so from the part of the guard that contacts the bottom of the fender, that would raise the whole guard up the same amount thats trimed off. Just wondering if any one else has done this?
My car is lowered on the stock bolts, and I have scraped the bottom of the front Altec splash guards.
I trimmed 5/8" from the part of the guard that touches the bottom of the fender & contoured the side of the guard to fit perfectly.
This gained ~ 1/2" ground clearance.
I bought large truck style plastic splash guards from Pepboys to use during HPDE's, costs about $15. They are wide enough to cover the width of the Z06 tires front and rear, and I use the existing screws to mount them...no drilling required. It takes about 15-20 minutes to put them on, and they come off even faster. I have the fronts mounted low enough to keep debris from kicking up, they actually scrape during hard cornering.

What did you use to trim the part that lines up with the car? It's a great idea, i'm just curious how you did it. My car is not lowered and I've already had to replace the one front side already due to scraping something.
