Funky X-Pipe/LT Header question
Hey all. Lookin for some wisdom on kind of an off the wall question. I have a Kooks 1 7/8 system with an offroad pipe at home in md. I am currently stationed down in texas and am getting ready to put B&B bullets on my vette. I also want to install an X-pipe at the same time in order to smooth out the sound and pick up whatever residual horsepower i get from it. However, according to pictures of the kooks system...i havent laid eyes on the one i have at home in a long long time...the x-pipe is located right up by the cats where as most systems have the x-pipe to the rear where it mates with the bolt on exhaust. If i go with an aftermarket X-pipe now will i be able to install the kooks longtubes down the road mated with this new x-pipe along with a set of high flow cats? Any opinions on deleting the cats are welcome as well. Thanks for the help!
Most X pipes I've seen are just a little way behind the cats! Should be similar for your set up. With modern high flow cats even the "hot rod " magazines claim there is VERY little to be gained by losing the cats. You can run strong AND still be clean,,Plus there is less hassle down the line with the EPA.Was just over in C5 tech,an there was a thread asking if anyone has done dyno with high flows and with out. First answer,, same HP and 1 lb ft of torque on back to back pulls.
